Though I was born after the original Star Wars films were released, the series was still an integral part of my childhood. I still remember adoring the films and playing with the action figures. The films themselves needless to say are timeless classics.

The original Star Wars movies are held in such high regard thanks in large part to Ralph McQuarrie. He really was responsible for establishing the look and feel of Star Wars thanks to his phenomenal concept artwork. It’s amazing to see just how closely the filmed scenes are to McQuarrie’s paintings.

As the creative community looks back at Ralph’s life and work, it’s fascinating to see just how many people were touched and inspired by one man’s work.
